6. Joint Meeting with Finance Committee

   • - Discussion of warrant, budget and COLA continued.

     General Discussion...
     Article 2 was discussed. All was agreed upon with the following concerns discussed.
     
     The IT budget went up $2,040 due to subscriptions coming in after the budget was submitted. It was mentioned that budgets shouldn't be adjusted when possible after they are submitted. The same was said regarding the Assessor's budget.
     
     The audit line was increased to $10,000 because the two year audit that was done this year was $15,000. The price of everything is going up and the $10,000 for this year and next year is just in case the price increases more.
     
     It was mentioned that the new Police Chief has a contract and the COLA for that position doesn't need to be in the budget. It was recalculated for the budget.
     
     The increase in Animal Control is due to the Sheriff's contract the town signed because no body in Conway was willing to fill the position. This will also almost double the rabies test cost for the town because the Sheriff's office uses a different veterinarian.
     
     There is a concern that next year the Tree Warden budget will have to be increased for advertising related to shade trees.
     
     The Finance Committee voted for a 2% COLA for town employees. The Select Board table this until all would be present Monday, April 24.
